Catherine at work 2008

This site is all about Catherine Dook.  Catherine is a wonderful writer, teacher, wife, and mother, but above all, she has a great sense of humour.

Go to the "contact me" tab to sign Catherine's guest book.  She'd love to hear from you.

Catherine lives on the  44 foot s/v Inuksuk on Vancouver Island with her husband of 15 years, John. She's written about many of her adventures in her three books:

"Darling, Call the Coast Guard, We're on Fire Again!"

"Damn the Torpedoes." and

"Offshore"

For the past 13 years Catherine has written her popular column 'Dock of the Bay' in "Boat Journal" and "Nor'westing" magazines.  She has written occasionally for "Pacific Yachting" and "48 North," and  has a regular column in "RV Times."  The "RV Times" articles feature their beloved 1979 Execuvan, which is resplendent with an ambiance you can't get any way other than with beige shag carpet.   "You'll notice the decorator didn't stoop to orange," she said once.  "Decorator!"  said their mechanic.  "Do you mean somebody did this on PURPOSE?"

What's New?

Catherine's monthly column can now be found on Jim Wood's fabulous new website, www.boatersresourcecenter.com

Catherine is also host of the radio show 'Dock Diaries', which airs on CICV radio 98.7 FM in Lake Cowichan at 1:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.  Fans of Catherine not within range of the station can tune in on the internet at cicv.ca.   Click on 'Catherine Dook' to listen to back radio programs in mp3 format.

Autographed copies of all three of Catherine's books are now available by mail.  Enquiries are welcome at catherinedook@hotmail.com.

John and Catherine had hoped to attend the Bluewater Ba Ja Rendezvous at Bedwell Harbour Victoria weekend, but unfortunately a routine check revealed that their anchor winch is toast.  It'll be a week before they can get the parts they need.

They hired their neighbour Screaming Liver to paint their deck , which now looks wonderful.

Catherine has been kept busy substitute teaching, writing, and knitting sweaters.  She's always said her life sounds much more exciting when she writes it down.

Blessings to you all!
